Selecting the Right Wig Hairpieces

Wish to make a fashion statement with your hairstyle? Choose wig hairpieces. Wigs are available in synthetic, human hair and monofilament fibers. They give a new look to the wearer.

Wigs are worn for several reasons. They give variety to the hairstyles that match with one's clothing. They can be styled in many patterns and are ready to wear. One just uses a wig when one is short of time to style the hair suitably. Movie actors use wigs to bring realistic look to the characters they play. Competitors wear wigs to bring alive the complete look of the person they portray. Wigs add a dash of weirdness in costume or theme parties. For some people afflicted by a medical condition resulting in hair loss, wigs are very useful.

Wig hairpieces are fashion accessories used to add attractiveness to normal hairstyle. The cap of a wig is the base material on which fine strands of hair, either synthetic or human hair, are stitched on by hand or machine. The cap is made of synthetic material that does not irritate the scalp. Monofilament caps allow the underlying skin to be exposed giving a natural look. Prices of wigs vary according to the material and craftsmanship.

One needs to be careful about choosing the right type of wig hairpieces. Determine the purpose for which you would use a wig and how frequently you would use it. If you wear a wig only occasionally, an inexpensive wig would do. But, if you need a wig say to cover your head from the after effects of cancer treatment, then you should choose a high quality one. In any case, you should look for wig hairpieces that are made of good material and are easy on the scalp. Caps should allow the skin to breathe and prevent damage to your natural hair follicles. Human hair wigs are the best because they can be styled in different ways.

How do you know which wig hairpieces are right for you? While there is no better substitute for actually trying them on, here is a thumb rule. Use a wig that matches your natural hair color. Assess the shape of your face and your head size. Use a wig that complements the attractive features of your facial structure. Hairpieces come with hidden clips and can be attached to the natural hairstyle.
It is not enough if you own a wig hairpiece. You must care for it. Always place the wig in a mannequin or wig stand to retain its shape. Wash the wig with a good shampoo frequently. Avoid heat rollers and curl on with synthetic fiber wigs.

The big names in fashion wig hairpieces are Raquel Welch, Henry Margu and Tony of Beverly. Several online shopping malls like wigdeals.com and paulayoung.com offer a spectacular array of wig products. You could shop online or order via mail. Go ahead and get yourself a fine wig that is as unique as you are.

How many of you out their wear odd hair colors (whether it's dyed hair or wig/hairpieces)?
I just got myself a dark purple wig and a medium-dark shade of blue one yesterday at Wal-Mart. I'm thinking about picking up a red on there, too, if I can cut out the devil ears. I don't want to dye my hair. In the spring I had gotten hair pieces that came in multi colors, like orange, light green, light blue, yellow. I also got hairpieces (these are the kind that's to be held by your ponytail) that comes in one color: light green, dark purple, a different shade of dark blue than my wig, light green. I gotten green for my Irish heritage. I got fake hair colors for fun, I don't wear them all the time.Last night I went to make a second trip to Walmart for something, and wore my purple wig. And wore it to a bar. One lady I never met told me she likes it (was middle-aged) and it was gutsy of me. When I was wearing just hairpieces, I would get complimented on them, and some people actually missed me wearing them. I like the wigs because they are longer than my natural hair. I just wish I can get a green long wig! I like my wigs long because I hate my refuse-to-grow shoulder-legnth hair! With my wigs, I feel as if I really have long hair, and feel better! Mybootis.... actually, the kind of hairpieces I have is like the one you find in Claire's Boutique, where it's a form of a ponytail holder, and you slip it over a ponytail. (Or if you don't want to do that, you can use bobby pins to hold it in place. But I would advie to use a scrunchie to hold it in place if you wear it over a ponytail.

Come on you people! I have a whole box of wigs; blonde, red, gray, brown, black, long, short, curly, straight, ponytails, and extensions. I used to wear them all the time because my hair is thin. I kept them for Halloween costumes. You must own a wig! Think...
